Christmas challenge

Hi again
At Creatalicious this month the challenge is to make something for Christmas that has 1 ribbon, 2 snowflakes, 5 flowers and some bling. I didn't want to make this card too "snowy' as it was a warm Christmas this year and I also wanted to make it a special card for a special friend.
The papers are all from the Kaiser 6x6 Tis The Season Collection. The background papers is shiny so tricky to photograph! Some edges have been distressed and inked. Tilda is coloured with Copics and sitting inside Spellbinders shapes. Gold ribbon and bling (in the corners) are from my stash. Flowers are from Bizzy Becs and have a light spray of Glimmer Mist. 2 snowflake stickers and some Kindyglitz around Tilda and on her hat and Stickles on the red paper complete it. Cardstock is Stampin' Up.

Fergus

how cute is this dragon? I needed to make a card to say thank you, happy retirement and Merry Christmas-all in one. I combined some Christmas colours without making it too tinselly and coloured him in neutrals with a bit of crimson using my Copics. Fergus is from Wild Rose Studios.

Christmas cards

Sometimes I just leave things to the last minute (all the time really) and so making cards this year just got too hard. For the first year in a while I have posted off store bought cards but having a reputation at work for being a card maker means that I couldn't quite get away with it.
Quick, easy and one stamp became a necessity. I've used the Stampin' Up reindeer and varied it by embossing the antlers on some and using glitter or bling on others. (Inspired by Kay).
A strip of paper punched down one side and some metallic stickers and all day Sunday saw the above result. Trying to photograph them in strong winds on the outside table stretched the patience but I managed to keep them upright just long enough.

Another win

I am so lucky to have one a set of digital stamps in the new range at Bizzy Becs. These are so cute and sassy so I can't wait to colour them.

New blog candy

I won some candy and here is some more!
I was lucky enough to win a lovely Magnolia Tilda stamp and
Magnolia picket fence die from Bizzy Bec and now she has more
candy on her store blog which is launching some gorgeous new stamps-both
digital and rubber.

At last-the lattice card

Have started to get myself together creatively but the extreme heat and humidity hasn't helped.
I made this card as a get well thought to our neighbour who had a stroke recently.
The design was inspired by Valita here who shares some wonderful ideas for using things I already have such as Spellbinder nesties and Stampin' Up punches.

missing mojo

Hi I've been MIA lately but will have a card to post later-I did 90% of it in one sitting and it has taken nearly two weeks to finish it.
To try and get the creative juices going I have enrolled in an online class by Jessica Sprague and it's free! I have purchased a number of her photo editing courses and they are excellent value and I've learnt heaps about photoshop. This course is a creative inspiration and will cover different styles of crafts. Another source of great creative teaching in the mixed media area is Suzi Blu, also online but you get to download all the content and keep it forever. I've put some badges in the sidebar.

Grunge

A really challenging theme this month at Bizzy Becs store challenge. "Grunge" is a change from pretty, sparkly etc (did glitter the wings tho'). The 2 brown papers are Kaiser "Grunge" which I've had in my stash for ages. The blue and orange tone papers are current Kaiser "Peachy Keen".
I've layered the blue over the Grunge and then torn it back in a few places. I've then layered the orange over another piece of Grunge. Under some places where I have torn this layer I've placed some brick pattern embossed SU card which was rubbed over with Vintage photo Distress ink to create a peeling painted wall effect. All edges were distressed and then inked with Vintage Photo.
I've also masked and sponged the orange to mimic graffiti. Tilda is coloured with Copics.

all white challenge

This months challenge over at Creatalicious is to make an all white card. This is one of those cards that just came into my head straight away-usually it's hours of thinking and planning before the doing!
No pattern paper means texture can be highlighted so out came the Cuttlebug. I've used 2 folders to emboss the background and a cut/emboss folder for the frame. The outer lace is made using my latest Doo hickey (mitering corners is not fun) and I've also used it on the bottom of the rose embossed layer. I've coloured Tilda with Copics.
The large flower is Prima, small flowers, leaves and butterflies are punched. Pearl spray is from Bizzy Becs and small pearls are Kaiser. Silver swirl is another Doo hickey. I've used plain whte paper for the lace and shimmer paper for the layers with very light sponging on the edges. It's interesting how all white papers can look different, especially in early evening light when I took the photo.

Colour challenge-close ups

Here are the close ups of the post below

Colour challenge

This month's challenge at Creatalicious is a colour one-pink, green and brown.
I decided to try something different and have made a set of ATC's that are folded so can be used for gift cards. I've rounded the corners to carry the Alice in Wonderland playing card theme.
I have used my new Copics from Bizzy Becs to colour my images so no traditional blue for my Alice. Images are from The Greeting Farm digital Wonderland set.
For Alice I've also used SU French Script, the Hatter has a background made using Glimmer Mist and mask, the Hare also has a Glimmer Mist background using the Tim Holtz clock mask overstamped with the clock from SU Sense of Time set.
Each is edged with Vintage Photo Distress ink and the paper is Kaiser from my stash.
SU Very Vanilla cardstock is used.

spring has sprung

Finally I can feel like spring is here. Today the sun has come out-it is actually warm-ish and after visiting the opening of a new scrapbooking store I was inspired to rework this card which I have been thinking about all week-only to completely change my idea when it came to actually making it. I have just started using Copics and the Tilda is coloured with them. The background circle was cut using Spellbinders and the stamps and inks are Stampin' Up. I've sponged the sky, in Bashful Blue, the sun in So Saffron and the flowers were inked using Regal Rose and Certainly Celery markers. The birds were done in the same Copics as Tilda. Papers are Basic Grey Kioshi and cardstock is Stampin' Up Regal Rose. The letter beads were from my stash and the ribbon came from the scrapbook shop today. I am entering this in Bizzy Becs challenge Cheerfully Spring.

I made top 5

What a lovely surprise-my vintage page that I entered into the Creataliciouschallenge made the top 5. This has spurred me on to the next challenge-a colour one. You can view the requirements here.
Some of you have had trouble commenting so I have altered the settings and hope this works.

mermaid tilda

I've been dying to make a card with my new mermaid Tilda and Seahorse stamps and so here she is. I stamped Tilda on Blending Card and coloured her flesh with Copics. The tail was stamped onto a piece of card stock that had been sprayed with Starburst Sprays and Glimmer Mist. It was then cut out and stuck to the main image. Seahorse was stamped on card stock also coloured with the sprays. Both were highlighted with Kindyglitz. I used Spellbinders for the ovals. Paper is from Basic Grey Archaic 6x6pad. I cut the sections from the design to resemble seaweed and bubbles-highlighting some with Dimensional Magic. Pearls are from Kaiser. The golden shells are made using Liquid Pearls.

roses birthday card

This is a waterfall card I've been wanting to try for a while and my sister's birthday created the opportunity. I've adapted the measurements from those on the resources section at Splitcoaststampers. The photo's of roses are my own. Cardstock is Stampin Up Mellow Moss with the photo's mounted on Whisper White and the paper is from my stash. The tassel is from Spotlight.

another vintage page

Finally got some weather suitable for photo's and last night did some finishing touches to this page. I'm not quite sure if it is finished yet. It will be a double page spread with the second page mostly journalling so I am thinking I might put a monogram just to the left of the stamping.
Paper is Basic grey Cappella again, cardstock is Bazzill. Ribbon and pearl button from my stash. I've cut the motif from one of the Cappella papers and layered it over another that I've punched with a Stampin Up border punch and slipped it under the side of the photo. I've used a corner punch on the dotted Bazzill corners and then slipped a scrap of the Cappella underneath. I've used scrap strips of the same paper to fold photo corners.
The stamp is from SU Vintage Vogue-I've taken the rubber of the wheel and mounted it to create a flat stamp. I stamped the section with the butterfly on a piece of the Cappella, and then mounted it to the first image to create dimension

Vintage page

Finally some sunshine so that I can get a photo of this page I did last weekend. Even got some shadows which is better than the cold grey gloom of the last few days. This is the front page of an album recreating my grandmother's photo's . Many of these date to WW1 era so there is some photoshopping happening on a few of them. I have used Bazzil cardstock and Basic Grey Cappella papers. The edges are disressed and inked. Flowers are Prima, leaves are punched or Magnilia dies. Small flowers are punched ,embossed with an embossing tool and tiny buttons from my stash used as centres. I am entering this in the Bizzy Bec's Creatalicious challenge this month.

And another card

It was a relief to go girlie again... photo's arent so good as there was absolutely no sun-grey cold and wet so had to resort to indoors and a flash. I prefer natural light but there wasnt any!
I've used retired Stampin Up papers from my stash. The rose is also from Stampin Up and I used the 2 step technique but using Versamark for the second stamp and then embossing with sparkly embossing powder. The card is for my niece whose middle name is Rose.
I am hoping to have some scrap pages for my next post-depending on the available light for taking the pictures and lack of wind and rain too.

Finally, the other male card

Wanted a vintage look but different from the first card as they were both going to the same person! Finally resorted to the Stampin Up Colour Wheel for inspiration and came up with this. The card stock is all Stampin Up, Not Quite Navy, So Saffron, Very Vanilla and More Mustard. The image is from Stamper Anonymous Tim Holtz collection. The greeting is Stampin Up.

Male card

male cards are always a challenge and this week I have 2 to make. The first, here, is using SU soft suede card. The clock, cogs and quote are from SU Sense of Time . The gold embossed swirl on the clock is from SU Baroque Motifs. Papers are scraps of K&Co and Kaiser from my stash. I've used Ranger crackle finish on the small clock face. Gold circle is cut using Spellbinders, gold brads are used on the clock hands. The scan is a bit crooked-the card is straight! Inspiration for the techniques used on the clock including masking and sponging with distress inks is from a tutorial by Sandi MacIvor which you can find here.

another card

I made this card for a challenge recently on the theme of Winter but not having any stamps that were especially wintery, I went for the feel using shimmery papers and whites and silvers.
The stamp is from SweetPea stamps from Bizzy Becs . I coloured her with twinkling h2o's and used vellum, kindyglitz and gellyroll pen on the wings. Doiley and pearl spray are from Bizzy Becs and the raindrop punch is Martha Stewart. From memory the card is Stampin Up.

Saturday, July 31, 2010

Just wanted to share this photo of the endangered yellow foot rock wallaby taken in Brachina Gorge last week. They are notoriously shy and we were so lucky to see 2 feeding calmly with no sign of taking off. This is the closest I have ever been to one in the wild.

gatefold card

Here is a card I made for a special friend Kay. The inspiration for the construction came from a card by Tab in Magnolia Ink No 2. Papers are Kaisercraft Tea at Elsies. Main images are Magnolia Tilda's and Wedding Arch and the stamps on the tags are Stampin Up. I have coloured them with Stampin Up inks and an aquapen. You can see what Helen did with her take on these by clicking on the link to the right.
